getting people to believe in your project.

Anyone have difficulty finding actors who must work for free and stay until the end? The fear of them walking off and messing up the continuity of your film is off-putting.

How do you get someone (esp an adult) to spare a few weeks of their time when there might not be any awards at the end, just so you can have a good time and have a "show reel"? I studied film in Hollywood and there were so many people wanting to be in student films so they can have a showreel. But many people here are not as optimistic as they over there.. Any advice would be useful.

I know the feeling. All you can do is organise so much and make it clear to them (and yourself) that it wont take more than 2 weeks, and here is exactly what you want them to do.
You HAVE to get volunteers, dont shang hi people because volunteers will always feel they owe you to the end. After all they did promise didnt they.
Try hard not to become too fauning and pathetic in your attempts at keeping them involved. Its humiliating and doesnt help. (It has the opposite effect....)
Dont just talk about the film with them. Make friends. Be interested in other stuff too, its manipulative but hey, shit happens.
Also BELIEVE in what you are doing, or make sure someone involved is, cos no one will believe in it if you dont.
And keep it fun.

Hmmm dunno but when I finally get my teeth into a project, whether its acting or whatever I will give it everything I've got.

I'm sure there are many others out there like me.

These people who just walk away can't really be very serious about acting.

Is it possible to make them sign something to stop them walking?

How about offering them a big party after filming is done?!
That way, they have something to look forward to!
